8 Picturesque Beaches in The East of Asturias

Summer in Asturias, the moment the sun comes out everyone runs to the beach. Luckily, there are hundreds of beaches to choose from!
Now you might be asking yourself which are the best beaches in Asturias. To make your life a little easier I summarized the 8 best beaches in the East coast of Asturias.

Each beach has its unique characteristics. Some have, some are surrounded by cliffs, some have rocks scattered around. But, they are all worth a visit!

The beaches are from East to West.

1. Playa de Cue, Llanes

This beach is surrounded by island made out of rocks and it is by far one of the most stunning beaches. However, if you want to be at the beach make sure you arrive with a low tide. Or you can enjoy it being a huge pool when the tide is high (like in the pictures).

There is also a bar/restaurant with awesome views in can you want to eat or have a drink and watch the sun goes down.

2. Playa de Barro, Llanes

The bright white sand of this beach is just incomparable. The shore is big so there is space for many people, the views are priceless, and there is a parking lot and a restaurant right above the beach.

3. Playa de Gulpiyuri, Llanes

One of the coolest, unique, must-visit place in Asturias! Gulpiyuri beach is a flooded sinkhole with an inland beach, so it looks like the beach is coming out of a huge rock. However, don’t expect to be there alone if you are going in the summer.

4. Playa de la Huelga, Llanes

A tiny and quiet beach that is worth a visit for its view! At the very end of the beach you can see the Castro de las Gaviotas peaking through.

5. Playa de Cuevas del Mar , Llanes

On the left of it you can find beautiful caves that can be accessed with a low tide! In the summer there is also a small bar/restaurant where you can relax and have a drink or a coffee.

6. Playa de Guadamía, Llanes

This beach is located by a ria (river coming from the ocean) and surrounded by high clifs. On the right side you can find the beginning of the Bufones de Pria.

7. Playa Espasa, Caravia

Playa Espasa

A big beach with comfortable parking spots, restaurants, and surfing school. It is a great place to pass a full day of bathing in the water, surfing, and eating delicious Asturian food.

8. Playa de Tazones, Tazones

This beach is part of the small charming town of Tazones. It is a great option if you want a small town vibes and great options for a seafood feast after a dip in the water.
