This coastal route combines the beautiful coast of Asturias, unique beaches, and two magical little towns, Candás and Luanco.
The best about this hike is that you can walk it from Candás to Luanco and then walk back, or, you can take a bus from Luanco back to Candás!
The best about this hike is that you can walk it from Candás to Luanco and then walk back, or, you can take a bus from Luanco back to Candás!
How to Get There
Public transportation
From Oviedo, there is a line of Luanco-Candás-Oviedo that leaves from the main bus station (about 35 minutes). From Gijón, you can take the fastest bus Luanco-Gijón; sin La Calzada (about 21 minutes), Luanco-Gijón; por La Calzada (about 32 minutes), or the train Gijón-Cudillero (about 21 minutes).
Car
Drive to Candás and search for a spot around the coast. A simple search in google maps of “Parking Publico” will give you a few options.

The route in Wikiloc actually starts in Gijon, so you can do the entire route or just the Candás to Luanco portion, depends on your time and ability!
Difficulty: Moderate (but I found the Candás to Luanco portion to be easy)
Length: about 12 KM
Time: about 6 hours
Important: some parts of the route are not marked very well, so follow the map on Wikiloc. At some point we had to cross through a field with cows and stepped on a huge pile of poop but it was worth it 🙂
The route starts in the village of Candás, it’s a beautiful place with a cute center. You can have a walk there and then head to the coast and start the route.
The route is amazing and passes through fields, a few unique beaches, and at times through other very very small villages!
The route ends in Luanco where you can have lunch or eat ice cream at one of the best ice cream places in Asturias, Helados Helio Hermanos (they have another location in Candás if you prefer to save the ice cream to the end). Don’t forget to walk around the center of this town as well!
